Goal Setting

The idea of goal setting is embedded in almost everything we do at Federal Way High School. Whether students are striving for certain grades, extracurricular accomplishments, or personal development we encourage them to have a vision, make a plan, and reflect on the outcome. Below is some information, both general and specific to FWHS, detailing how we support students as they set goals.

Interventions

Classroom Presentations	This year the counselors went into all the 10th grade classrooms and did a presentation on goal-setting. We modeled for students how to use the S.M.A.R.T. method and then had students practice using their own goals.
Individual guidance	As we meet with students we focus on helping them identify potential barriers that might interfere with their goals and action plan. We also help them develop benchmarks so they can constantly evaluate their progress.
