FED Talks

FED Talks are held at Federal Way High School throughout the year.  These inspiring evenings showcase the extraordinary scope of wisdom at the Home of the Eagles. The talks are given by teachers, staff, alumni, and students and focus on the branches that support our nest:  Family.  Education.  Diversity. 

Ashley Curran James: Finding Strength in Yourself

Ashley Curran James is an alumna and a 2nd generation para-educator at FWHS. In her FED Talk, Mrs. James tells how the strong women in her life instilled a solid understanding of her own worth. Listen as she shares advice on how to find your way to what you want in life.

Bryan Hamilton: Examining My Family

Social Studies teacher Bryan Hamilton presents his FED Talk on the power of family. In this talk Mr. Hamilton shares personal memories and stories from the Hamilton family and the larger family of students and staff at Federal Way High School to teach insightful lessons about the role family plays in shaping us.

Rene Recato: Adjusting Your Mirror

FWHS Art Teacher Rene Recato shares his story of overcoming self-doubt and finding success. Mr. Recato gives us tips for how to quiet our own inner critical voices. Watch and learn some great advice for “Adjusting Your Mirror”

Tammy Taylor: My Transformation

Loyal Eagle Tammy Taylor discusses the power of transformation and kindness in her life. Ms. Taylor has dedicated more than 30 years to Federal Way High School in the Student Support Services Department. Watch and learn as this masterful educator shares personal and poignant stories of her journey. A lesson for us all as we witness her transformation.

Ingrid Lyden: Lessons My Dogs Taught Me

Science teacher Ingrid Lyden has been teaching at Federal Way High School for more than 30 years. In her FED Talk, Mrs. Lyden reveals the joys and challenges of breeding champion dogs and then shows us how these beautiful animals have a lot to teach us all. A wonderful lesson from a dedicated teacher.
